Stamping it Again
Thats the name of the challenge found here. We were required to stamp the image more than once on our cards. I still had my scraps out on the table from the last card (see previous post) so I limited myself to using it up. I also wanted to use my new Unity stamp, Just Be. I pondered the multiple stamping of the sentiment for a while and decided to use my stamp to alter the paper.

I inked my stamp up with Sage Shadow and randomly stamped over the K&Co patterned paper, and using the same ink I then sponged the edges. I was originally going to use the reverse side of the paper, which was red, for the torn piece at the bottom, but felt it was too harsh. So using the same patterned side as the first panel, I sponged this time in Cranberry Crisp to get the colour I wanted. I then stamped my sentiment with the same ink onto a scrap and punched it out.
Keeping with the theme of the vintage looking paper, I added a piece of lace I inherited from my grandmother. I’m lead to believe it ’s about sixty years old!!! I also rediscovered some stencils that I have in my craft supplies and I stencilled in the florish under the cut out roses and the mat layer under the sentiment. Once all the stamping and inking was finished I matted the panel onto matching CS and popped the torn piece up on Dimensionals.

There are several things I like about this card. I like that I can punch out part of the whole sentiment to make a feature of it. I got to use up my scraps on the table to make a beautiful vintage style card. I’m using some of those outta sight- outta mind craft supplies, that I like many others, just hold onto and they then get over looked.
Thanks for dropping by. Theresa
Shape Up with Caardvarks
The latest challenge for caardvarks is to creat a Shape card, so I went for a flower shape. I found a flower template from here to get me started, and this is the template I used.

I used papers by K & Co, running them thru my printer to get the flower outline onto them. I figured that was easier and quicker then cutting out a template and tracing it onto the paper. I printed it out on two different sizes to get more layers onto my flower so I had a fuller looking bloom. The largest flower was matted onto Old Olive CS, and the middle flowers were scrunched up, flattened out and layered together. The top two flowers are a Prima and a folded flower which I made myself from this template. I cut out some leaf shapes from Old Olive CS and stamped them with the snow swirl from Season of Joy (SU!), then distressed them to soften them up a bit. The whole flower was then mounted onto River Rock CS stand.
For the sentiment, I coloured with Ruby Red marker the words ‘just be’ from the Just Be quote made by Unity Stamps, and then punched out with the Designer Label punch (SU!). I then added the ribbon and brad.

Those of you who know me well, know that I sometimes like to use the textured stamp from Oh, So Lovely to add a bit of colour to my creations instead of using a sponge. And that is what I’ve done with this card and as you may be able to tell from the close up, it gives me a different result. That particular stamp has reached ‘tool’ status in my crafting.
Thanks for dropping by and I hope you are all having a great day where ever you may be.

Makeesha’s Challenge #7
I gave Kirsty a quick call today, and she asked if I’d done this challenge yet. Nooooo! (Hang my head in shame). So after I hung up I got stuck into it. My mojo is a bit sluggish this week, and then I couldn’t lay my hands on the things I wanted to use to make this card. No doubt they are right under my nose, but I can’t see it for looking, IYKWIM. So with my mojo still stuck in first gear I thought it best to try and keep things simple.
This was the Inspiration challenge picture. Very pretty!!!

Like I said I could find certain things that I wanted to make this card, so I improvised and just focused on working with the colours.

I used all Stampin’Up! products for this card, the list is as follows-
- Stamp Set – Bodacious Bouquet, Eastern Blooms, In the Spotlight, Oh So Lovely.
- Card Stock – Cool Caribbean, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White, Rose Red DSP.
- Ink – Cool Caribbean, Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Rose Red.
- Assessories – Circle punches, Dimensionals
Makeesha’s Inkspiration Challenge can be seen here. Hope you can join in too and make a card. Thanks for popping in for a look. Don’t be shy to leave a comment, I love to hear from you!!

Playing in Las Vegas on the Weekend
I played along with my first Virtual Stamping Night at Splitcoast, and was all about Las Vegas!! I got in on the tail end of things, but not to worry, better late than never. They put up a challenge to create a project every hour. I managed to make only two of the projects. The first one was to make a note pad holder/cover.

Since I wanted to get this finished as soon as possible I kept the project simple. The image is the same as the card in the last post, but this time I wanted to try my colouring pencils on Kraft. I had a play with doing this a couple of days ago and I realy like how the colouring layed down on the cardstock, so I wanted to use this technique for the folder..
For this I used Stampin’Up! Products. Stamps from Oh,So Lovely, and Always; Cardstock – Kraft, Not Quite Navy; Ink – Stazon, Not Quite Navy: Paper – Bella Bleu; Extras – colouring pencils (my own).

This card challenge was all about a wedding cake which we were to use for inspiration, and we had to incorporate a knot onto the card as well. This card was also made very quickly. As soon as I saw the cake I knew exactly how I was going to do the stamping and after that I just played around with getting the ‘knot’ onto the card. Since it was a wedding cake inspired card I thought I’d embellish it with a couple of rings made with my circle punches.
Stamps- Swirl (Tuscan Rose), A Rose is a Rose (SU); Card Stock – Baja Breeze, Cool Caribbean; Ink – versamark, Col Caribbean; Extras – Silver Pearl EP, Circle punches, Very Vanilla ribbon.
As we all know, a lot of people go to Vegas to play a little and hopefully win a little. So thats what I did on this Virtual Stamping Night, and baby……I WON!!!!!!!! For participating I won a……wait for it…… I won a SCOR-PAL!!!! I was gobsmacked when I was told this. How is that for exciting???? I had a lot a fun without winning, so that was a real bonus. Yay!!! I can’t wait until the next VSN, and next time I’ll be more prepared to get into challenges.
Thanks for dropping by,

Only Summer Kisses….
is the name of this weeks colour challenge over at Splitcoast Stampers. That tranlates into Only Orange, Summer Sun, and Kiwi Kisses. I’ve been busy with my new jobs this week so I haven’t had a lot of time to put into challenges this week, but I thought I’d squeeze this one in.

I kept this card fairly simple for two reasons. One is, with such a bold combo I thought it was a safer route to take and, two; I’m suppose to be getting ready for a camp cook out tonight, but I’m procrastinating, so simple is quicker.
I stamped images from Oh, So Lovely and Botanical Blooms onto watercolour paper (my own supply) with Stazon. Using markers and ink pads in the colours selected I watercoloured with an Aquapen. Image was then layered onto matching card stock and a sentiment added from Best Yet. Apart from the watercolour paper, this turned out to be a Stampin’Up! only card.
Wow…is it just me, but whenever I look at Only Orange it nearly burns the back of my eyeballs, LOL. Happy card making to all, I really must go and get ready for this evening. I’m going to be making a pot of pumpkin soup to get everyone warmed up while we wait for the main event – the roast. The fire is going to be started up in about an hour, aarrgghh!!!

Lily Kate’s Friend.
I started on this card for a Featured Stamper challenge at Splitcoast a few weeks ago. I found a card I liked and began with cutting out and stamping the circle of paper. What happened next is anyones guess because the circle of paper was the only thing that was similar between the cards. LOL. My creative muse was leading me down a different path and who was I to say ‘no’.

All papers are from Basic Grey’s LilyKate range. The main image is from Friends 24-7 stamped in Close to Cocoa, with some added foliage from Stem Silhouettes also stamped in the same colour. The edges were sponged with Pink Pirouette. I cut out some stems from another piece of paper, very fiddly, and arranged them on the card with some more stamping from Stem Silhouettes. Add in some paper layering and some piercing and the card was complete. Stamps and ink are from Stampin’Up!
I really like how it turned out.

A labour of love maybe….??
I wanted to make another card for the Caardvarks Challenge – Don’t Quote Me, But… I wasn’t going to do another one but I was inspired by this card, and the concept of creating cards with scriptures in mind.

This isn’t a scripture, but it’s the Prayer of Saint Francis.

When I found myself out of work a couple of months ago I really needed a lot of inner peace to help me get thru what I felt was an unjust situation that I was put into. I came across this prayer and said it every morning (for a while anyway, I’m not use to praying generally, LOL), especially when I was slipping into feeling bitter about my plight. This prayer is so meaningful to me I wanted to create this card featuring it.

Now, the labour of love comes from the fact that I nearly spent all day cutting and rearranging bits and peices of paper. In the end I had growing pile of scraps and still no card. In the end I stopped trying to make a masterpiece in card making and just went with the flow. I pulled bits and bobs from some very dark recesses of my crafty drawers. (Hey that sounds kinda corny – snigger). I haven’t the inclination to mention what I’ve used or done. It just IS. Somethings I should say however is that the prayer is a printed out onto patterned paper. It is not a stamp. And the floral bits are a collage of stamped images, lace, beads and rub-ons.
Thanks for dropping by. Hope you all find what you are looking for.

Simply Basic
Today I thought I’d give the latest Basic Grey Challenge a go. This week it was a sketch for us to try our hand at.

Now sketches are not my most favorite sort of challenge, as I find a lot of them can be a bit complicated looking with all that layering and embellishment detail. I like to see what others make, and I generally like what I see. This weeks sketch was no different, lots of layers with extra bits. So I thought I’d make this easy on myself and just let the papers be the features.

I purchased the Lime Ricky 6×6 paper pad last week while I was in Brissy. These pads sell out so quickly, so if I see one I just pounce on it as soon as I’m in the store. I almost don’t care what’s in the pad – if I don’t have it already, then it’s mine. Seriously, has there ever been any bad Basic Grey paper. I used 6 different papers, and the ‘bullseye’ was punched from a 12×12 version from the same paper collection.
The tiny bit of stamping was done with all Stampin’Up! products using Pumpkin Pie ink and Lots of Thoughts (retired) and One of a Kind stamp sets. Oh, and let’s not fotget the Boho punch I used to punch out the flowers.
Great little card that didn’t require a lot of effort and won’t stuff up the postal sorting machinery. LOL. Speaking of things going postal, I must get some cards into the mail today.

Brisbane is good for something, sometimes.
As you may know from my last post I had to spend some time in the Big Smoke last week. (For those that don’t know what the Big Smoke is, it refers to the city.) After living out in the country these past two years, I find I like going to the city less often. I do make an effort to go to my once a month card club so I can catch up with my stamping buddies. I didn’t know anyone that stamped when I first arrived here, so I developed a habit of going to the city for an ‘ink fix’. LOL
Anyway, since I had to make the dreaded trip into the city for some training I thought I’d make good use of a rare opportunity to visit a Stamping shop that just happened to be around the corner from where I was doing the course. How convenient!!! Now I know this store stocks Anna Griffin which is what I was particulary after, but after a quick look around I found that they also stock Unity Stamps!!!! Before I left to go to Brisbane I was checking out the lastest CaardVark Challenge and noticed that there were Unity Stamps to win. I fleetingly thought to myself – Hmm… be nice to win something like that since I cant buy it. So image my surprise to see those lovely brown packages hanging on the hooks. BTW the shop is called Stamp and Scrapbook Madness which is in Cooperoo.
Enough about me, you’re here to see the card aren’t you???

I first stamped the sentiment (Unity Stamp) and then stamped a swirly border (Tuscan Rose) around three sides and then cut out. The ‘lace’ strip is cut out of Basic Grey ‘Porcelain’ papers. I added the brads which I found in the garage, LOL. A bit of creative piercing, and there you have it. My Caardvark Challege card which was to create a card using a verse or quote. I also used; Card Stock – Pink Pirouette, River Rock , Very Vanilla and; Ink – Regal Rose, Rose Red, River Rock; all by Stampin’Up!
Hope you like what I’ve come up with this afternnon, and feel free to leave a comment.

Back from the Big Smoke
I’ve just spent the past four days down in Brisbane attending an induction course for a new job I’m starting this week. I’m so glad to be back home to the country peace and quiet. My Card Club Day was the day after my course so I stayed down for an extra night. As much as I was keen to get home I didn’t want to miss this meeting. It was my birthday last week and I wanted to get all my lovely hand made cards in person, rather than have someone collect and pass them on.
Whilst in Brisbane I stayed at my friend Evie’s home. She is a fellow club member and talented stamper, so I had a bit of fun playing with her stamping stuff. I suggested I would do the demo for this months club day. Naturally I hadn’t come prepared for this, so the challenge was to present something that relied on some very basic stamping supplies. I decided to do Paper Piecing, and after a quick ferret thru Evies stuff I found the perfect stamp, and made up some quick samples.

For these samples I used two co-ordinating papers, stamping the bodice one one and the skirt on the other. These were then cut out and adhered over the same image stamped onto card stock. It may be difficult to tell from the paper that I chose to use for the far right sample, but the bodice is the 6×6 version of the 12×12 Basic Grey paper which I used for the skirt. My supplies were limited so I only worked with what I had, but I liked the idea of using the same paper printed in different sizes for this project.
Everyone seemed well pleased with the technique, with a few of the club members getting in and making their own versions. We hold our club days in a Scrap Shop so there was no shortage of paper possibilites. By the end of the day we had lots of pretty ‘dresses’ to show off. Enthusiasm was high that day so I was inspired to make up a card myself using the technique I just demonstrated, LOL.

As soon as I saw this spotted paper by Making Memories, I knew it would be perfect for my dress. I matched it up with some Bassill card stock, corner punched some notches, and added flowers and half pearls (birthday prezzie from Evie) to making it pretty. The stamp is an old one from Stampendous.
Thanks for dropping by, and I hope you are having a good day. I’m hoping to get a couple of challenges done this afternoon, and I’ll post them tomorrow.
Theresa.
