Making the day worthwhile.

After a job interview today that had me crying before and after, and looking fragile inbetween, I went a bought myself some papers for a card I’ve been asked to make. The request was for pink and blue, so I came up with this card. As you can see I’ve gone off and done my own thing with pink and GREEN!!! It just about made itself, so who was I to try and change it’s destiny.

I used items from all sorts of places so I hope I don’t forget to mention them all. I’ll start with the top layer and work my way down.

  • Bohemian Butterfly (All Night Media) stamped with Peony versacolor and embossed with Aurora Amethyst MoonGlow embossing powder. This was stamped and embossed three times on different patterned papers, cut out and layered.
  • Background stamped with Baroque Motifs (Peony versacolor) and Fresh Fillers (Cyan versacolor), both by Stampin’Up
  • Punched flowers with Kaiser Pearls.
  • Peel-it stickers, altered with Bic Permanent Markers
  • Patterned Papers – Fancypants (Twitterpated, First Date, Groovy)
  • Card Stock – Pixie Pink (Stampin’Up)
  • Sponged hightlights – Tempting Torquoise (Stampin’Up)

I had a very clear idea how I was going to make this card before I started so it all come together relatively quickly. I used Bic Permanent Markers on the gold peel-it stickers to alter the colour of them. I’m not a huge fan of the peel-it sticker, but since discovering that I can change the colour of them, I now have a respectable supply of them. I found a pack of eight pastel coloured Bic Markers down a Coles a couple of months ago and I just knew I had to have them just for the stickers. The pack sell for $8.99, a great price!!!

I know the intended recipient will love it – it’s just her thing. Hmmmm….. my mum would love this card too. I now know what I am making for my Mothers Day card!!!!!

A note about the buterfly stamp – I bought this for my mother last Christmas, and since she hasn’t used it as much as what I would have, I’ve temporarily moved it into my home for safe keeping. Tee hee.

Stampin’ with Friends

One of the things that I have really enjoyed since becoming a Stampin’ Up Demonstrator is when I get together with other stampers and we get to play with our stamps. I had such a day yesterday.

As April is the start of the new catalogue year, there was plenty of new stuff to play with. New Stamp sets, new In Color inks and papers, new patterned papers and new tools!!!! Here is one of the cards we made and below are the list of items used to create it.

  •  Stamp Sets – Bronc Buster, Wanted -new!
  • Card Stock – Creamy Caramel, Closo to Cocoa, Very Vanilla
  • Ink – Creammy Caramel, Close to cocoa
  • Outlaw Designer Series Paper – new!
  • Photo Corner and Scallop Punches – new!
  • Brads (unknown source).

I like the way elements from the stamp sets and papers work beautifully with tools such as the scallop punch. Takes some of the guess work out of the ‘Will this go with that?’ dilemma we can sometime face.

I’m very pleased with the way this next card turned out. I qualified for three free stamp sets when I made my first Stampin’ Start, and one of the sets I chose was Lovely as a Tree. I’ve had in mind to make a card with this set using the Brushless watercolour technique and this is what I came up with.

I used

  • Stamp set – Lovely as a Tree
  • Card Stock – Chocolate Chip, River Rock (new), Blue Bayou (new).
  • Inks – for trees Old Olive, Close to Cocoa, Always Artichoke and sponged background with Blue Bayou (new), River Rock (new). Versamark.
  • Brads (source unknown)

I’d made a similar card the day before, but this time, at my friends suggestion, the background was sponged. I love it!!

Thanks for a great day and inspiration Kirsty.

Just trying out an image upload

I failed to succeed in uploading an image in the last post, so I went away and thought about it. I also made this card in the meantime as well.

Stampin’Up

  • Stamp Sets – Wanted, Baroque Motifs
  • Card Stock – Purely Pomegranate, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Blush Blossom
  • Ink – Purely Pomegranate, Regal Rose, Pretty in Pink, Versamark

Well I’ve learnt a lot today so it must have been a good day!!!

What a wonderful day to start a blog.

Everyone else seems to have a blog, so why not I.

I pledge to waffle on ad nausium about myself and all my cleverness, I will leave intelligent comments on other blogs and add other really groovy bloggers to my Blog Role!!!

Now to address the first part of the blog pledge – I am a rubber stamping artist/crafter, among other tings. In January of this year I signed up to be a Stampin’ Up demonstrator. Why did I do that I hear you ask? Well, the truth be known I’m not really sure why. I kinda had a vague idea that I might get to meet some people and have something resembling a social life. Now all of a sudden I seem to be in hot demand -dare I even say popular !!!! (Ok, now I’m waffling). Seriously though, I’m having a lot of fun being busy, doing what I love – being creative and meeting creative people.

This blog however won’t be devoted to all things Stampin’Up, ‘coz I do lots of other things as well. I can safely say that most of the waffle at this stage will be about SU, since that is where most of my energies are at this time.
